Scott Brown votes against women's right and uses Wall Street/Koch money to push his wife out there to fight his battles

Scott Brown began voting against women's rights in Massachusetts and hiding behind his wife's skirts as she reminded everyone of how she use to do innocuous  fluff infotainment pieces for the local news. Gail was like an old friend basically telling you about weather, fires and somebody involvement in a hit and run accident.

No wonder Scott had time to be home with the babies I'm sure his late night shoots had him on a completely  different schedule while his wife worked for a living.

Then afterwards Scott began to pursue his career as a career politician with three terms in the Massachusetts house and three in the senate, which the job of government worker is pretty much a career that most Massachusetts residents can identify with.

So when Scott was in trouble he quickly went to his Wall Street/Koch friends and got a bundle of money to promote his wife to the point that you might actually think that Gail Huff was running against Elizabeth Warren.

Then who can forget when Scott trolling for cash with one of the Koch Brothers and telling him he couldn't do it without him.

Then finally why would you ever want to return to Wretham, Massachusetts in a beat up old truck when you can pal around with the Washington versions of career politicians, like senator for life John McCain.

Then finally that brings us back to Gail Huff and her love of family values that marks any Republican candidate.

Gail Huff I wonder what the toothpaste is symbolic of. I guess that goes over big with the family value crowd.

Our local news cut away to Jon Keller at large for some wisdom as to how the politics were shaking out. Jon Keller is our local political wizard who was famous a few years ago for asking George W. Bush a pop quiz on the names of other countries leaders which he failed (surprise, surprise). For me I always think back to a half a dozen years ago when the teachers in the whole eastern part of the state staged a big protest rally at the state house. Some of these groups came from as far away as the islands of Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard to take part in a rally in Boston. It must have been quite a feat to even get up there. On that day Keller's big slant on the story, "Who was the idiot who gave them a permit to march in the middle of the day. My commute was terrible."

 While Sunday Morning Keller's sole wisdom was not enough and they had to go to the political wisdom of former speaker of the Massachusetts house Tom Finneran. Finneran pleaded guilty in 2007 to a federal obstruction of justice charge for giving false testimony in a 2003 lawsuit over a legislative redistricting plan that diluted the clout of minority voters.  Finneran was guilty of turning the district he represented, which was mostly minority, into a mostly white district so he could keep his job (i.e. see Tom Delay). I guess his plan was to stay in power for life. Since that time Finneran has been released, has his own radio show and he also shows up on spot's like Keller's to spout his wisdom to the rubes who need such expertise to make their decisions. I guess what this really goes to prove is their is no crime too bad for the politically well connected, who get to show up on television without the moniker of political felon next to their names. Tune in next week when Keller has a safe cracker and someone guilty of breaking and entry on his show. I hear it's about public safety.

Elizabeth Warren has taken a ton of money from Boston. Scott Brown from Manhattan. That isn't even in Massachusetts.

LP - Wall Street's senator from Massachusetts. Or as Scott Brown's adds say he's independent. He's independent if you happen to own a bank.

On Tuesday, Sen. Scott Brown (R-Mass.) went birther on Elizabeth Warren. "Serious questions have been raised about the legitimacy of Elizabeth Warren's claims to Native American ancestry," Brown said in a statement released to the press. 

But given the available evidence concerning Warren's ancestry, Brown is essentially implying there may have been an elaborate, years-long effort to fake his opponent's heritage—not unlike the conspiracy envisioned by right-wing activists who sought "answers" about President Obama's citizenship. (The Brown campaign did not respond to multiple requests for comment.)

This faux controversy stems from a series of articles in the Boston Herald, which reported that Warren had listed herself as Native American in a Harvard Law School faculty directory. (Brown's top adviser, Eric Fehrnstrom, is a former Herald reporter.) This fueled criticism on the right that Warren had falsely claimed Native American status to advance her legal career. Now this bizarre kerfuffle has snowballed well beyond that, as conservatives pursue an in-depth probe of Warren's great-great-great grandmother's ethnicity and whether Warren's great-great-great-uncle lied about it.

As he tries to make the case to Massachusetts voters of how bipartisan he is, touting his pride in working with President Obama, he is at the same time promising to his corporate special interest and anti-Obama donors, as well as right-wing Republican base groups, that he will be their champion, especially in an Obama second term. As a result, Brown is in the position of constantly having to run both hot and cold on Obama. He will simultaneously do anything to hug the President publicly even while dissing him more quietly to his Republican supporters.

This week, Brown put out a radio ad talking about his work with the President. He talks about how proud he was to work with Obama and how important cooperation is. “We need to work together now,” Brown says. Last month he flew to D.C. twice in one week to be at signing ceremonies at Obama's side, after begging and prodding to be invited. Brown also staked out his seat on the aisle at the State of the Union hours in advance to make sure he could be seen on TV with Obama.

Obama is very popular in Massachusetts, and Brown couldn’t be any clearer about how much of a drag he thinks his very close personal friend Mitt Romney is on the ticket. It’s pretty difficult in a Presidential Election year to run with the opposite party’s candidate while running away from your own party’s standard bearer—especially when that standard bearer happens to be your longtime friend and political mentor. In fact, Brown is facing a terrible dilemma: spending so much time trying to associate with Obama, while continuing to trash him in fundraising appeals, creates a very big problem for him. Add to that the fact that Obama and Warren are actually close allies, and Brown is in a bind.

Sen. Scott Brown (R-MA) knows what cohort of voters he has to win to be reelected in November: white, blue collar Democratic and independent men, and he's focusing all his efforts there. That's how he undercuts all of the actual work Elizabeth Warren has done to champion working families, and brand her as an elitist. So that's how you get this kind of performance:

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. -- On opening day of Little League season, Republican Sen. Scott Brown helps out a coach by picking up an equipment bag and carrying it to a ball field here in this town 20 miles west of Boston. The ball-capped kids sitting on the benches may not recognize the lawmaker, wearing a blue dress shirt and a Red Sox tie with tiny blue B's on it—but many of their parents do. [...]

[...] Brown is running a locally focused campaign, hoping that working-class and conservative Democrats and the growing number of independents in the Bay State see him . . . as an everyman who can legislate in Washington but come home to catch a game and throw back a cold one.

And, for some voters, it's working.

"I'm undecided but I'm leaning towards Brown," says Joe King while watching his children play. “He seems like a regular good guy; he seems like someone who comes down to a field, or someone who, if you saw him at a bar, you’d have a drink with him, you know?” King says he plans to vote for President Obama in November, but he also considers himself more of a conservative Democrat and Brown a moderate Republican.

Scott Brown: stealth Republican. While campaigning back home among these voters, he's the guy willing to cross the aisle and work with President Obama. The guy who will have a beer with anyone (depending on whether or not this is a day he's not drinking beer). But when he's his true self, in emails to national Republican donors, he's all tea party and obstruction:

"I know there are several other GOP campaigns to support, but this race is THE battleground for the United States Senate—the only sure hedge to a potential second term for President Obama," Brown wrote in the appeal.

And just like every other ordinary Joe at the Little League field he end the year struggling to get by with only 13 million in the bank

The 110,000-member Massachusetts Teachers Association has endorsed Elizabeth Warren for Senate. The MTA, an affiliate of the National Education Association, made its endorsement within hours of the Massachusetts SEIU's endorsement of Warren. The MTA's endorsement is made through a committee that includes members of the union drawn from each of the state's congressional districts.

Yesterday afternoon Elizabeth Warren spoke at SEIU senator's governor's forum. She was joined on stage by Massachusetts Democrat Marisa DeFranco. Republican Incumbent Scott Brown was invited but he did not show, as he obvously doesn't feel he has to represent unionized workers or at least government workers.

"America is a place of opportunity and it invests in its future," Warren says.

Warren was asked about how she would compete with Scott Brown's large war chest that he has been collecting from various Wall Street sources. She said, "(Brown) may outspend me but he will never outwork me."

"We need to let people know what the city and municipal workers do for us," Warren said. "The solution always seems to be to cut government services so the services are worse and then less people are left doing more work. This is wrong. They cut government workers and then a reason for more cuts is justified because government doesn't work because the lines are long. That is wrong."

Warren said that if she is the nominee she will be against any cuts to medicare or social security. She is for card check which was something the unions had wanted and that they believed would lead to an increase in union membership. Warren is also for an investment in infrastructure and education.

"The race in 2012 is about who's side are you on," Warren said. "We need to see what we care for and value. We can't keep cutting breaks for those who've already done well."

Warren went on to say about the world that came out of World War Two, "We've already lived in a a world (where middle income is going up). We all do better, when we all do better. We can't be country where the debate is always about what kind of cuts we should be making on working people and the cuts, for who have already made it, are considered sacred. The heart of this election isn't about me. It's about what we do together."

Just over two short years ago, Scott Brown was campaigning with tea party groups and conservative talk radio in Massachusetts and beyond, selling himself as "the 41st vote" against health care reform in the Senate. Now, facing Elizabeth Warren's strong challenge and presidential election-year turnout, he'schanged his tune somewhat. Oh, he's still railing against "Obamacare" to partisan crowds, but he's also playing up his "independent voice," trying to find that delicate balance of tying himself to President Obama enough to give independent voters something to like without alienating Republicans.

The AP rounds up some examples, like Brown's statement supporting Obama's recess appointment of Richard Cordray to head the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and his touting of a three-sentence conversation with Obama on their shared support for banning insider trading by members of Congress.

There are two issues here. One is that Scott Brown is running scared from Elizabeth Warren. This is not how it was supposed to play out for Senator 41, the hot new Republican celebrity of the big Republican year of 2010. Massachusetts Democrats were not supposed to be able to find a candidate with a compelling biography, a strong voice on economic issues, exceptional media skills and enormous fundraising ability (which you can contribute to via Orange to Blue). But then Elizabeth Warren emerged, and Scott Brown had to start fighting for his political future—and if that means cozying up to Obama, he'll do it.

"Just last week, Scott Brown said in an interview that he thinks Mitt Romney and Warren Buffett should get special tax breaks that are not available to most Americans. I don't think that's fair," Warren said in a new post on Blue Mass Group, a New England independent political blog."

This is one of the places where Scott Brown and I see things differently," she said.

The "Buffett Rule," named after billionaire William Buffett, would require people who make more than $1 million to pay at least 30 percent in taxes. President Barack Obama highlighted the proposal in his State of the Union address and is likely to hammer away at it in the coming months. The issue will also take center stage this week in the Senate as Democrats prepare to unveil a bill that would turn the "Buffett Rule" into law.

"This isn't the first time Senator Brown has been more concerned with protecting millionaires than helping working families," Warren said, ticking off handful of jobs bills that were put forward by Obama but didn't advance in Congress. "Each bill would have been paid for with a small tax on people making more than $1 million a year. Senator Brown and every other Republican voted against those jobs."
