Some Thoughts On America's Hall of Fame Of Media Nepotism

Many people seem to feel democracy needs a vigorous fourth estate that is willing to challenge the powers that be and get them to offer up answers that they might not necessarily want to give up. It just doesn't have quite the same ring when your reporter goes home and says "daddy I was wondering..." or "Honey, could you go over how stocks and derivatives again."

Andrea in her own autobiography explains all the problems of the modern media. In the description of her book on Amazon it describes Mitchell's book as, 'But what sets this book apart is not only the unique front-row seat Mitchell has in the political world, but also the role she plays in the glamorous social scene in Washington. Her marriage to Alan Greenspan, Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, has created professional challenges, but also given her special entrĂ©e to the “A” list drawing rooms of Washington and other capitals. Here she gives us glimpses of what it’s like to go from a 7 p.m. newscast to an 8 p.m. black-tie party, to go from being the reporter staking out a state dinner to being one of the invited guests."

This is shorthand for what sets this book apart is she knows everyone and the media certainly loves its access to the stars. I hate to tell Amazon this but it isn't always that clear cut where one world  another begins. Yet GE/Comcast keeps on pretending that these world don't collide and we keep looking away from the glaring conflict of interest it represents. The Media as a whole continues to engage in Kabuki theater.
