Daily Kos: When a Blue Dog falls in primary, every Democrat in Congress hears it

Daily Kos: When a Blue Dog falls in primary, every Democrat in Congress hears it:

'via Blog this'

Back on Tuesday, two Blue Dogs—Rep. Jason Altmire in PA-12 and Rep. Tim Holden in PA-17—were defeated for re-election in Democratic primaries. This may not have made national political news, but rest assured that every single Democratic member of the U.S. House of Representatives took notice.
When an incumbent loses a primary, it is a big deal to members of Congress. When two lose, it is a very big deal. When two Blue Dogs lose challenges from the left—Holden to progressive challenger Matt Cartwright and Altmire to the labor-supported Rep. Mark Crtiz—it suggests a shift in power.
Blue Dogs became famous by joining with Republicans to water down, or block entirely, Democratic legislative efforts. With Democratic primary voters dumping two of the remaining twenty-five Blue Dogs  in one day, than we are nearing a point where the ability of Blue Dogs to thwart the rest of the Democratic Party is coming to an end.
How this works is pretty simple. If Democratic primary voters keep kicking Democrats who frequently side with Republicans and Wall Street out of office, then all Democrats in Congress will be motivated not to side with Republicans and Wall Street. So, if Blue Dogs and other corporate Democrats keep losing Democratic primaries, pretty soon we will have a more effective and progressive Democratic party.

Neville "Obama" Chamberlain strikes back at the most dangerous group in the country: liberals (also known as his base)

Obama staffer went on the attack in a blog saying, "Paul Krugman is a political rookie. At least he is when compared to President Obama. That's why he unleashed a screed as soon as word came about the debt ceiling compromise between President Obama and Congressional leaders - to, you know, avert an economic 9/11. Joining the ideologue spheres' pure, fanatic, indomitable hysteria, Krugman declares the deal a disaster - both political and economic - of course providing no evidence for the latter, which I find curious for this Nobel winning economist. He rides the coattails of the simplistic argument that spending cuts - any spending cuts - are bad for a fragile economy, ignoring wholeheartedly his own revious cheerleading for cutting, say, defense spending. But that was back in the day - all the way back in April of this year. [...]
No, the loudest screeching noise you hear coming from Krugman and the ideologue Left is, of course, Medicare. Oh, no, the President is agreeing to a Medicare trigger!!! Oh noes!!! Everybody freak out right now! But let's look at the deal again, shall we? [...]
Now let's get to the fun part: the triggers. The more than half-a-trillion in defense and security spending cut "trigger" for the Republicans will hardly earn a mention on the Firebagger Lefty blogosphere. Hell, it's a trigger supposedly for the Republicans, and of course, there's always It'sNotEnough-ism to cover it."

In it Gibb says people who compare Obama to Bush ought to be drug tested:

Lets prison in Cuba remain open check
Soldiers still in Iraq check
No one from Wall Street crisis prosecuted check
No one from the Bush administration prosecuted check
Have been willing to shoot drones  all over the world check
Continues to micromanage the schools check
Did not fight for meaningful change in health care (public option) check
Supported Bush giveaway to the richest taxpayers check
Support working people having to sacrifice for countries excess check
Policy has given huge gifts to the pharmaceutical industry check
Isn't willing to fight for workers check
Has supported energy companies after a disaster check

I wonder why so much of the blogosphere gets the two confused when they see the two. Frankly Paul Krugman has a better track record of governance, none.

Does Anybody Think That "The Surrendering Democrats", also known as one of Wall Streets Two Parties, Aren't Positioning Themselves To Sell Out The American People?

The democrats took a step closer to becoming the 21st century version of the Whig party and the only question seems to be is what party will replace them after they're gone, as America continues its descent down the economic rabbit hole. The super congress - also known as 'we know we're  screwing you over but all of us would like to keep our day jobs, perks and benefits - have their representatives. They are Patty Murray, Max Baucus, and John Kerry. They are a fund raiser in chief, a politician who few voters in his own party even likes, and a former presidential candidate who ran his whole campaign like he was looking for someone to surrender to. Can anyone tell me where in the constitution the founders talked about having an appointed a non-elected super congress to do the supposed real congresses dirty work?

Thomas Jefferson hoping to learn something about government from this crop of geniuses

These representatives have a strong record of job protection, they have protected their own jobs for 78 years worth watching from the sideline as America has bled jobs millions of jobs during that time period. Expect to see one or two of them retire and join a lobbying group so they can keep their lifestyle without having to appeal to rabble. Then the rest of the Democrats can run against the supercommittee, or we never supported the supercommittee that we just signed off on which in turn wiped out any benefit you were getting out of the government. Oh by the way, we need more shared sacrifice so can you dig a little deeper so we can funnel a few more dollars to our fund raisers.  What this country needs in the worst way is a government that actually represents someone other than a government that represents the highest briber.

Why are liberals always playing the victim card?

Jon Stewart 7/27

I guess the reason conservatives hate it when liberals play the victim card is that it distracts from the real victims -- conservatives. - Jon Stewart

He's on our team

I know that's who I want fighting for my team in 2012. Being a Red Sox fan it turned out the Red Sox didn't lose eighty plus years. They just compromised.

Who could have predicted that the Democrats would have capitualated I mean compromised

Yes we can. Yes we can. Get no additional revenue not even get Bill Gates to kick in a little extra but to devastate the budget because Wall Street doesn't approve. Only the surrendering democrats could call getting nothing you want and giving up everything a c compromise. And they work for us.

The White House signals that a compromise is still possible

The Democrats continue to just look for some Republicans to surrender to. They are willing to lean over 95% to meet in the middle.

Who Represents You? (i.e. at least we get to pull the levers)

French Vanilla Ice Cream

or

Vanilla Ice Cream

As we move to another election season.

The Republicans Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of the business community. You can expect Romney as the nominee or, if he does poorly at the start, another "sane nominee" will be quickly offered up  to counteract the totally bats**t ones that also are in the party. This wing of the party is like the crazy relatives living  under the stairs who no one talks about. You can let them get close to power but not too close. You don't want them breaking anything. blah, blah, blah... abortion...blah,blah, blah....gay marriage...blah, blah, blah....a secret Kenyon....blah,blah. blah....the flag. The people who really run the Republican party will never let this group assume power but they know they can be relied on to react with dog whistle like accuracy.

or

The Surrendering Democrats.

The Democrats of the last forty years has made France's defense of the homeland in 1940 look absolutely heroic. There's about a solid 10% of the democratic party who actually seem to believe in anything but mostly they're just bought by the same people who own the Republican party. They just cast in different roles. One has been cast as the bully and the other is convinced they need to compromise at all costs and no matter how stupid the compromise is. It's all Kabuki theater. One Republican enters a room with 49 Democrats. The Republican automatically believes he has a mandate and demands surrender; the Democrats start scrambling to see who can come up with the most embarrassing compromise the quickest. Obama is doing just fine for the business community. They have two parties and we have none, but if you listen to the press their arguments are epic and the chasms are so vast that there is no common ground.

While that's all for now. I hope you are satisfied with your choices. Whatever you do, don't vote for a third party or you'll throw your vote away.

Who could have figured? Shocking a lousy employment number comes out.

As the two party system (which often behaves like a uni-party system) think of new ways to shovel more money to people, who don't need it, they continue to conduct a food fight in Washington for public consumption as the people they supposedly represent suffer. And that's just the ones they count as being unemployed.

Are the surrendering democrats prepared to deal away another plank supporting the working class?

If this goes its hard to believe that we are living in a two party state. This is a country with a working class that is screaming for a party that represents them. It is the far right and the far righter party.
